Why Jesus Chose Fishermen as His first Disciples

If Jesus was a Kenyan He would without a doubt be a Gor Mahia supporter because He sure loved fishing and eating fish! I also think He would support Chelsea FC because the colour blue is synonymous with the sea, and by extension, fishing.

And did you know that fish are the only species not taken into Noah's ark, suggesting that they were self-supporting! And no wonder fish is said to be the best source of proteins!!!

I think Jesus liked travelling by boat, preaching beside the lake and using fishermen to spread the gospel for a good reason. His choice of fishermen was because fishermen are: teachable, hard working, not formally educated and easily understood when Jesus commanded, "I am making you fishers of men!"

I think Jesus chose fishermen because His main agenda was to make His disciples fishers of men. As fishermen this message would easily and readily resonate with fishermen and not, say bankers or doctors who don’t have a clue what fishing entails. Before Jesus ascended to heaven He commanded His disciples to go fish for men throughout the whole world. Notice, Jesus still allowed His disciples to go fish meaning He calls us to be effective 'fishers of men' wherever we are.  You and I should ask how we can turn our workplace into a fishing ground for Jesus.

I believe there are many reasons why Jesus called fishermen to be His first disciples. Do some research and let me know what you find out.

Well, K'Ogalo recently lost to Sofapaka and I think Jesus would have told those Ingwe fans mocking the Green Army, "he who hasn't lost a match should cast the first stone."

There.... I rest my case. As for me, I think I should gather my nets and go fishing! Oh, bring some bread. We will need it.
